Proposed FrameworkProposed Assessment Framework
The assessment content below is a proposed framework published for transparency. Criteria, weighting and pass thresholds are pending ratification by the CGIA technical committee and are not yet effective examination rules.
CGIA specialist certifications are assessed through a formal professional examination process. Detailed assessment standards and examiner criteria are controlled CGIA materials.

Certification
Technical Assessment
Assesses the candidate's own specialist riding performance.
Teaching Assessment
Assesses the ability to analyse, demonstrate, explain, teach and adapt specialist skills, including safety management.
Technical Badge / Teaching Badge — each earned by passing its own assessment, with a confirming document.
Instructor Certificate — requires both badges in the same discipline at the same level.
Holding a Technical Badge alone does not grant an Instructor Certificate.

How an assessment day runs.
- 01
Application
Candidate applies for an assessment once official dates are formally confirmed and published.
- 02
Pre-assessment briefing
Examiners explain the criteria, terrain and safety protocol before any scoring begins.
- 03
On-snow assessment
Each criterion is observed across multiple runs, not a single attempt.
- 04
Feedback and result
Candidates receive written feedback per criterion, with the result issued by CGIA.
