Certification questions

Is C1 the same as F1?
No. Carving and Flat Ground are two independent specialist pathways assessing different technical abilities. Holding C1 does not confer F1, and vice versa. A rider may hold levels in one pathway only, or in both at different levels.
Who recognises CGIA certification?
CGIA certification is assessed and issued by CGIA. It certifies that the holder has met CGIA's specialist technical standard. It is not a national or international instructor licence and is not stated to be equivalent to any other body's qualification.
Are the assessment criteria final?
Not yet. The criteria published here are a proposed assessment framework, shown for transparency while the CGIA technical committee finalises weighting and pass thresholds. Anything marked 'Proposed' is not yet an effective examination rule.
What is the difference between a Technical Badge and an Instructor Certificate?
A Technical Badge (e.g. C2 Technical Badge) confirms the holder's own riding ability, with a document confirming that achievement. The Instructor Certificate is awarded separately only to those holding both the Technical Badge and the Teaching Badge in the same discipline at the same level. The Teaching Assessment covers teaching demonstration, movement analysis, lesson design, risk management and teaching practice. Assessments are in development and not yet open.
How do I verify a certificate?
A certificate verification page is provided. The lookup service is not yet connected to the certificate register, so no results are returned at this stage. Verification requests can be sent to CGIA directly in the meantime.
Do certifications expire?
Validity periods and revalidation requirements are part of the proposed framework and will be confirmed with the final assessment rules. Examiner appointments are expected to require periodic standardisation.
